Relay by Clearline.

Shift handover and critical-message control that leaves a record.

Most plants pass the shift on a whiteboard, a paper log, and a two-minute conversation in a doorway. Relay makes that handoff structured, signed, and searchable — so what one crew knew, the next crew actually gets.

The problem
When something fails at 3 a.m., the investigation almost never finds that the information didn't exist. It finds that the information didn't cross the shift boundary.
01

Turnover is verbal and unprovable

Outgoing and incoming supervisors talk for two minutes at the gate. Nothing is written, nothing is signed, and the next audit or investigation has nothing to look at.

02

Open items quietly disappear

A valve left isolated, a temporary repair, a pending permit — it gets mentioned once, then drops off the third shift's radar entirely.

03

Directives go out and vanish

A bulletin, a procedure change, a new hazard notice goes out by email to 240 people. Nobody can say who actually read it, and the ones who needed it most are the ones in the field without a laptop.

What it does

Turn communication into something you can hold up in an audit.

Relay does not replace how your people talk to each other. It puts a frame around the moments where information has to survive a boundary — shift to shift, office to field, leadership to crew — and proves it made it across.

01

Structured shift handover

An enforced turnover template per unit or area. The outgoing supervisor signs it, the incoming supervisor acknowledges it, and neither can skip a required field.

02

Carry-forward item ledger

Anything unresolved rolls to the next shift automatically and keeps rolling, with an ageing clock, until someone closes it with a reason.

03

Pre-job and tailboard briefings

Capture the hazards, the controls, and every attendee's sign-on from a phone at the job site — including contractors who aren't in your directory.

04

Controlled bulletins

Publish a directive to defined roles or areas with mandatory read-and-acknowledge. A live board shows exactly who is outstanding, by name and by crew.

05

Escalation and call-out trees

Who gets called, in what order, with confirmed contact and automatic fallback when the first name doesn't answer.

06

Handover analytics

Ageing of carried items, acknowledgment rates by crew and shift, and the areas where the same issue keeps getting passed along instead of fixed.

Who it's for

Built for operations where being wrong is expensive.

Clearline Relay is sold by the site, not by the industry. These are the operations where it lands first — and the roles that own the problem it solves.

Built to hold up

Designed around what an auditor will ask for.

Compliance is not a module bolted onto Clearline Relay. The record structure, the signatures, and the retention exist because someone will eventually ask you to produce them.

  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 (PSM) — Operating procedures and communication of process changes to affected employees and contractors.
  • ISO 45001 §7.4 — Internal communication requirements — what is communicated, when, to whom, and how it is documented.
  • CCPS / API RP 754 guidance — Shift handover is treated across process-safety literature as a controlled activity, not a courtesy.
  • EPA Risk Management Program — Evidence that operating and safety information reached the people running the process.
  • Contractor safety programs — Briefings and acknowledgments captured for people who will never have a company login.
What it returns

Where the license pays for itself.

These are the three places customers find the money. None of them require a change in headcount, and all three are numbers your finance team can already see.

Turnaround and outage windows

A missed handover item during a turnaround is measured in crew-hours of standby, not in paperwork.

Repeat work orders

When the next shift knows what was already tried, the same job stops getting done twice.

Investigation time

Pulling six weeks of handover history takes a search box instead of a records request.

Licensing

How to get it before anyone else can.

Clearline Relay is not generally available. The way in today is a design partnership: a fixed fee, a product built around your operation, and the first year of license included. The list prices beside it are published so you can budget — not because you can buy them yet.

What a design partnership actually is. You are not buying finished software. You are paying to have it built around your operation, ahead of everyone else, with your name on the decisions. In exchange you get the first year free, a rate locked for three years, and the right to walk with your data if it does not work.

Implementation. Included in the design-partner fee. At list, it would be $9,500–$22,000 one-time depending on areas, forms, and records migrated.

More than one product. Design partners on a second Clearline product pay half the second fee, because the platform underneath is already built for your site. See where each product stands →

Prices are USD, 2026. List figures are planned, not promised, and will be confirmed before general availability.
